I find myself in a moment of deep reflection. We're living in a time of profound upheaval, both in the physical and spiritual realms. It's as if the universe itself is conducting a spiritual "purge," echoing the words of Matthew 10:37-39.
“He that loveth father or mother more than me is not worthy of me: and he that loveth son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me. And he that taketh not his cross, and followeth after me, is not worthy of me. He that findeth his life shall lose it: and he that loseth his life for my sake shall find it.”
These aren't easy verses to swallow. They challenge the status quo, disrupt the way we view relationships, and shift our focus towards an eternal perspective.
The phase of spiritual purge we find ourselves in is a turbulent but necessary one. We're called to put down distractions—material, relational, emotional—and focus on serving The Most High's Kingdom. A disconcerting aspect of this season is that all our relationships and dynamics will be put through fire; only what aligns with the Father’s will shall come out unscathed.
I have observed families dividing, partners separating, careers faltering, and friendships dissolving. Though painful, these occurrences can be revelatory, exposing where our true allegiances lie. It's not a time for compromise or holding onto things with sentimental value, but rather, a time to cling only to our salvation.
When our external worlds are crumbling, it's a sign that something is not in full alignment internally. If we're tired or weary, it's a clarion call from our Abba—our Father—to let go and to allow the chips to fall where they may, trusting that everything will align perfectly in His Kingdom.
As someone committed to spreading light in a time of darkness, this period challenges me to live in a state of eternal vigilance. We're called to seek solitary moments to communicate with The Most High, for it's only in these moments of quietude can we hear our assignment. Every person has a role to play, a unique purpose that's divinely ordained, and it's crucial that we don't let any relationship or endeavor distract us from it.
We're also warned that this season will be marked by natural disasters and unusual events. Our material possessions will lose their value as they are tested and tried. Indeed, the only things of true value now are a mind, body, and spirit in complete alignment with The Most High.
This is a time for us, the faithful, to band together in healthy fellowship, being "equally yoked" so that we might sharpen one another like "iron sharpens iron." Those relationships that fail to bring us closer to The Most High are not just expendable; they're dangerous. They risk leading us astray, pulling us away from our God-given purpose.
In prayer, I find solace, thanking Abba for all the seasons of life, even the difficult ones. I ask for the courage and wisdom to align my ways to His, to be willing to let go of all that hinders me from fulfilling His purpose for me.
This journey may be internal, but its repercussions are far-reaching, affecting not just our personal lives but also the world at large. It's a spiritual purge, and while the process is painful, the outcome promises to be transformative.
